Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care team at St. David’s reaches out to provide care and support to parishioners in need through personal connection, Lay Eucharistic Visitors, the prayer tree, the prayer quilt and meals ministry. We are a covenant community where no one stands alone.

Prayer List & Healing Ministry

Prayer List

We publish our Parish Prayer List every week in our bulletin and Happenings newsletter using only first names to protect privacy. Our parishioners are encouraged to send their prayers to everyone on the list, we also include the list in our Prayers of the People during service.

We also have a number of groups who regularly pray for those on our Prayer List, including: Men’s Fellowship, Needleworkers, Healing Ministers, Daughters of the King, Morning/Evening Prayer Team, and more.

If there is a name you would like added to the Prayer List, please email Rev. Susan at spinkerton@sdlife.org.

Healing Ministry

Our healing ministers are available during our Sunday services for prayer requests near the right entrance of the sanctuary during distribution of the Holy Eucharist. In keeping with the ancient Christian tradition of offering prayers for healing, wholeness and reconciliation, we continue in this powerful ministry that Jesus taught us by inviting all who would like a prayer for themselves or someone else to share your request with a healing minister. All prayer requests remain confidential and will not be shared. We pray you will find comfort and support in this new ministry offering as we hold each other up as the beloved children of God.

If you're interested in joining our Healing Ministry, contact Carol Bonifant at cdbonifant@comcast.net

Prayer Quilt Ministry

The idea behind these quilts is simple, yet powerful. A heavy thread is used to take stitches through the quilt layers, and the ends are left free to be tied with a square knot. As each knot is tied, a silent prayer is offered for someone in need of comfort or healing- someone who has asked the members of our Community to pray for them. The quilt is then given to that person. Adult and teen quilts are approximately 42”x 54” while baby/children quilts are 28” x 28”.

To request a prayer quilt for yourself, a family member, or anyone who is in need of comfort or healing (please be sure the recipient is willing), contact cdavis@nvcc.edu or contact the church office. If possible, please give at least 1 week notice to make the quilt and set arrangements for tying of the quilt on Sunday morning.

If you are interested in donating some of your time, talents, fabric or other supplies to the Prayer Quilt Ministry, please contact prayerquilt@sdlife.org or Carolyn Davis at cdavis@nvcc.edu
