Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
A HUGE Thank You! to those who have already pledged to St David’s for 2025. We know this requires discernment and sacrifice and we appreciate your commitment to our spiritual home. Your pledge will help us plan for next year to not only pay our bills, but also fund our ministry programs.
To those who have not pledged yet, we appreciate your continuing discernment. Pledges are critically vital to our 2025 budget planning. As of 1/15/25 we have a generous financial commitment of $518,015 from 87 pledges. 80% of our goal – YAY!
St David’s still needs to attain our goal from faithful parishioners to cover our known expenses for next year, which includes beginning our exciting ministry together with our new full-time Rector, Rev. Stephen Hagerty.
Please prayerfully consider a financial pledge to support our continued ministry together at St David’s in 2025.
Let us Pray:
Oh God, our loving Creator and Giver of all good gifts, bless our new Rector, Rev Stephen and our parish. Amen.
Pledging is critical for the church. The finance committee, the vestry, and the clergy need to be able to plan the year, just like you may build your household budget on anticipated income sources & expenses.
Without pledges, we cannot plan.
If there is an amount you feel comfortable pledging, even if you may wish to contribute something special at other times, it would be most appreciated and helpful for planning purposes.
We know life changes. If you want or need to adjust your pledge, that is also easy to do. While some may use Biblical tithing as a guide, all of us need to be comfortable and cheerful about giving. Please set up automated drafts so you don’t have to remember each month.
We are coming together to celebrate our gratitude for all that God has provided: our families, our work, and all the beautiful nature surrounding us. We are especially grateful for the human connections we forge with others, particularly within our church community, as we join together in the uplifting and live-giving experience of worship.
Be a part of this amazing opportunity to
Walk in Love!
Our Finance Committee needs more volunteers. Please share your love of all things finance! If you enjoy gardening, we have a vegetable garden and a contemplative garden. Both need love and care. Join the prayer quilters if you’d like. The music team can use choir members and musicians! Our sound team can use A/V talents. Love video and photography? Join our media team. Maybe you’d like to try something out and learn a new talent!
Some do not require a particular talent, but some of your time. Help with services from reading scripture to serving Eucharist to ushering. Do you have a knack for entertaining? Join the Welcome/Hospitality Committee! Maybe you have outreach ideas!
Many of these do not require a long commitment. Even once a month or a few times a year help! Training will be provided.
St. David’s must fund everything we do. We do not get funds from the Diocese or the Episcopal church. We have a commitment to help support the Diocese that we have not fully met for several years.
As you know in your personal finances, it takes money to run a building. Utilities, mortgage or rent and insurance as well as maintenance add up. As you may save for an emergency fund, it is important for the church to keep a Repair Reserve fund to cover emergencies.
Dear friends in Christ,
We kick off our 2025 Stewardship Campaign with the focus on generosity. Any time we encounter someone with a generous spirit we find we enjoy being around them. Their positive energy and outlook on life draws us in and it can be contagious in the best sense of the word. Generosity is such a powerful emotion that can completely change how we look at the world, our lives and how we relate to God. In essence, generosity has the power to transform lives.
God’s generosity is all around us in ways we may overlook or take for granted. When we take time to consider how we have benefited from God’s generosity, we become more and more aware of just how generous God is. The earth, our island home, as our Book of Common Prayer reminds us, is a gift from God with its abundance of beauty and mystery that continues to astound us. We are part of the bounty and beauty of God’s creation, and we see this in the man we call Jesus.
Jesus’ ministry reflects God’s generosity by transforming people’s lives through his abundant love and compassion for everyone. The poor, the lonely, the sick, those who live on the margins and forgotten by the world, are the ones Jesus sought out and embraced with his generous spirit of love. This generosity of love continues as we strive to live out the gospel and our mission at St. David’s, transforming lives through Christ by our worship, prayers, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, volunteering our time, and using our many gifts to help others.
We cannot do this good work alone. We need each other to encourage, inspire and remind us that we are all beneficiaries of God’s generosity. Sharing our personal stories of how God’s love and compassion has impacted us is a testament to the power of generosity to change lives. In the coming weeks we will be sharing our stories on how God’s generosity has impacted our lives, encouraging us to be generous in response. In his letter to the church in Ephesus, St. Paul reminds us to “be imitators of God, as beloved children, and walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” Ephesians 5:1-2.
May you walk in love this day and always,
Susan+
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Ephesians 5:1-2, NRSV
Dear St. David’s Family,
As we kick off St. David’s Stewardship season, we would like to reflect on this year’s Episcopal theme of “Walk in Love”. What does “Walk in Love” mean to our faith community here at St. David’s? How are we going to use God’s gifts to us as we continue to grow both individually and as a church.
Your stewardship committee asks ourselves these same questions as we discern about what it means to “Walk in Love” as a community. We realize the theme is all encompassing to everything we do here at St. David’s. We “Walk in Love” with our St. David’s family and the wider community outside our walls. We “Give in Love” to support our church so that we can worship in our beautiful church home, expand our outreach and grow our ministries. We “Serve in Love” with the many volunteer opportunities we have at our church campus and the outreach opportunities we have in the wider community. Our request of each of you is to ask - what can I do to serve my church and the community? How can I use my time, talent, and treasure to “Walk, Give, and Serve in Love” for my faith community home at St. David’s?
Today we kick off the 2025 Stewardship campaign for St. David’s. We are very excited about what the future holds for our church home. We have been so blessed to grow as a community led by interim rector Rev. Susan and our supply priest Fr. Winston. The future of our community is very bright as we call Rev Stephen Hagerty to lead our blessed community forward.
Today, you are receiving information about our 2025 Stewardship campaign. We have enclosed a pledge card, pledging details and goals and information about how you can serve in love at St David’s. We ask that you pray and discern about how you and your family will “Walk, Give, and Serve in Love” with your St. David’s faith community.
Yours in Christ,
Margot Culhane Chair
Lawrence Panetta Co-Chair
